Urban Forest Visit Motivation Scale: Development and Validation

Due to the importance of positive effects urban forests on dwellers and limitations prior studies, which have mainly dealt with motivations involving rural or tourism-oriented forests, this study aims develop a scale visit motivation for an forest specifically as way deal more diverse specific motivations. The first step is draft version Urban Forest Visit Motivation Scale (UFVMS) through experts’ discussions important factors from studies analysis Big Data. Then, confirm reliability validity these items, 878 valid data visitors living in Seoul Incheon were collected conduct EFA CFA validate final scale. As result factor analysis, seven dimensions (Experience Activities, Healing Rest, Health, Environmental Experience, Daily Leisure, Family, Eco-Friendly) 24 items UFVMS drawn after deleting 5 that had low standard regression weight unsuitable characteristics dimension. results are expected provide academic practical implications motivation. In particular, unlike common purposes such healing health, indicate purpose daily leisure-related activities notable visiting showing there also high need good-quality facilities food suppliers, toilets, so on.
